Definition:

Voice দুই প্রকারঃ  ১। Active Voice. ২। Passive Voice.

 

 

Father reads newspaper.

Who reads?           What does he read?

Newspaper  is read by father.

Step#3:

 Voice change মানে হচ্ছে active to passive, passive to active.

Active to passive Voice

• 1.     বাক্যের subject, tense এবং object চিহ্নিত করতে হবে।

Subject: “কে?” দ্বারা verb কে জিজ্ঞেসা করলে, যে উত্তর পাওয়া যায় তা-ই subject.
Object:   Verb কে কি বা কাকে দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করা হলে, যে উত্তর পাওয়া যায় তা-ই object.   

• 2.     Active Voice এর Object কে Passive voice এর Subject(অবশ্যই subjective form এ এনে) বানাতে হবে।
• 3.     Active voice এর tense এবং passive voice এর subject অনুসারে passive voice এর auxiliary verb বসাতে হবে।
• 4.     Main verb এর past participle Form.
• 5.     Preposition By, to, with বসবে
• 6.     Active Voice এর subject কে Passive voice এর object(অবশ্যই objective form এ এনে) বানাতে হবে।
• 7.     Sentence এর বাকি অংশ!
• 8.   Compound sentence এর  দুইটা clause কে ই আলাদা ভাবে voice change করতে হবে।

Active to passive Exercise:

1) I write articles on different topics. pv: Article is written by me on different topics.

2) He reads various kinds of books. pv: Various kinds of books are read by him. 

3) They love to play football .pv: Football is loved by him so that it is played by them. 

4) She prefers coffee to tea. pv: Coffee is preferred by her to tea. 

5) We watch movies in this Cineplex. pv: movies are watched by us in the cineplex.

6) You always shop in that market. pv: intransitive verb (without object)

7) I sing different kinds of songs, especially modern. pv: Different kinds of songs, especially modern are sung by me. 

8) They always play cricket in that field. pv:

9) The poet writes romantic poems. pv:

10) The lyricist writes realistic songs. pv:

*You, he and i are making the thing. (singular)

*We, you and they are making the thing worse. (plural)

Double object:

Active:They gave me(direct object) some fruits (indirect object).

Passive (direct object): I was given some fruits by them.

Passive (indirect object): Some fruits were given me by them.

Change the voice of the following sentences:

1. Mr. Zaman teaches us English. 2. He bought me a ring. 3.they left us some food. 4. A tree provides us oxygen. 5. The boy had carried me some books. 6.you would bring me some toy. 7. buy me a pen stand. 8. you would not buy him any junk food.

Factitive Object: একজনই 

Active: He elects me captain.

Passive: I was elected captain by him.

Change the voice of the following sentences:

Imperative Sentence:

Active: Write a letter immediately.

Passive: Let a letter be written immediately.

Active: Do not write letter immediately.

Passive: Let not the letter be written immediately.

Active: Never tell a lie.

Passive: Let never a lie be told.

Active: Sleep on the floor/Please, help me

Passive: You are requested to sleep on the floor./you are requested to to help me.

Interrogative Sentence:

Active: Who taught you English?

Passive:By whom were you taught English?

Active: Whom did you call?

Passive: Who was called by you?

Active:What do you want?

Passive: What is wanted by you?

Step#4:

passive to Active Voice

• 1.     বাক্যের subject, tense এবং object চিহ্নিত করতে হবে।

Subject: “Auxiliary verb” এর আগের noun  অংশ -ই subject.
Object:   By, With, To preposition এর পরের noun ই object. 

• 2.   Passive voice এর object কে  active voice এর subject বানাতে হবে। object না থাকলে the people, we, they, you যে কোন একটাকে subject বানানো যায়।
• 3.   Verb phrase দেখে tense নির্ণয় করতে হবে।
• 4.     Tense অনুসারে  Main verb বসাতে হবে।
• 5.     Passive voice এর Subject কে  active voice এর Object বানাতে হবে। 
• 6.     বাকি modifier এবং complement বসাতে হবে
• 7.     Compound sentence এর  দুইটা clause কে ই voice change করতে হবে। 

Examples :

• News reports are written by reporters. Av: Reporters write news reports
• A brownie is being baked by Michael. Av: Michael is baking a brownie
• New workers were hired by the company last year. Ac:he company hired new workers last year.
• The customer was being helped by the salesman when the thief came into the store. AC:The salesman was helping the customer when the thief came into the store.
• The book has already been discussed. Av: They have already discussed the book.
• The letters had been delivered. Ac: He had delivered the letters.
• New workers will be hired by the company. Ac: The company will hire new workers.
• The letters have to be delivered. Av: She has to deliver the letters.
• She must deliver the letters. Av: The letters must be delivered.

Step#5:

Change them into active:

1. After the meals were prepared, we were asked to drink a delicious coffee, but since there was no coffee at home, we were told that we should go to the market.
2. Bananas are really loved by monkeys, and many experimental environments have been organized by scientists using this fact.
3. The work done was really successful, but a small error could not be prevented at the end of the work. Everyone was very upset by this situation.
4. If it is thought that there is a problem with this issue, I can be contacted. For this, if some communication tools are used such as e-mail, telephone or fax, faster return can be provided by me.
5. After the money was counted, I was contacted and was told not to talk more about this subject.
6. After the assignment was finished by him, it was quickly checked and uploaded to the system. Therefore, it is thought by his friends that a high grade will be given to him by the teacher.
