Rule-1. Adjective এবং adverb সমূহের negative করতে
Not যুক্ত বিপরীত Adjective ব্যবহার করে হয়। এগুলো হলঃ

I.e.
Affirmative: mango tests sweet. Negative: Mango doesn’t
test sour.
Affirmative: I respect everybody. Negative: I disrespect
nobody. Or I don’t disrespect
anybody.

Rule-2.
Only বা alone থাকলে
ব্যাক্তির ক্ষেত্রেঃ None but বসে। যেমনঃ
Affirmative: Only Allah can help us. Negative: None but Allah can help us.
বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রেঃ Nothing but বসে। যেমনঃ
Affirmative: Only book is
our real friend.
Negative: Nothing
but book is our real friend.
সংখ্যার ক্ষেত্রেঃ Not more than/Not
less than বসে। যেমনঃ Affirmative: I need only 10 taka. Negative: I need not more than/ Not less than 10 tk.

Rules
3. Sentence এ bound,
must, can, have to, has to থাকলে negative এ “cannot but” বসে।
I.e.
Affirmative: we must obey our parents. Negative:
We
cannot but obey our parents.
Affirmative: we can love our country. Negative:
We
cannot but love our country.
Affirmative: we have to drink pure water. Negative:
We
cannot but drink pure water.
Affirmative: we bound to give you thank. Negative: We
cannot but give you thank.

Rule-4: Affirmative
sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে
ব্যবহৃত Conjunction হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত and/both……..and এর পরিবরতে Negative –এ Not
only……but also ব্যবহৃত হয়।
I.e.
Affirmative: The producers ended up both extending and expanding their filming hours.
Negative: The producers ended up Not only extending but also expanding their
filming hours.
Exercise: 1. The game is suitable for both children and adults. 2. The game is suitable both for children and for adults. 3. He was both determined to beat the record and to win over the crowd. 4. The game is both suitable for children and enjoyable for adults. 5. It is for him both a tunnel of love and death. 6. It is for him a tunnel of both love and death. 7. It is for him both a tunnel of love and a tunnel of death.8. A plant that grows in both Chile and Argentina. 9. The results of the research are both impressive and alarming. 10. Rule-5: Affirmative
sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে
ব্যবহৃত subject এর পূর্বে
যদি adjective হিসেবে A/All/Every
ব্যবহৃত হয় সে ক্ষেত্রে এর পরিবরতে Negative –এ
There is
no ব্যবহৃত হয় verb এর পূর্বে But বা who বসে।
Example:
Affirmative: Every player wants to be in a winning team. Negative: There is no player but wants to be in a winning team.

cook needs good knives and a chopping board. 2. Every store has a manager in charge of it. 3. Every area has its own park. 4. Every student
gets a laptop. They have to give it back at the end of the course. 5. Every user has

Rule-6: আবার Affirmative
sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে
ব্যবহৃত subject এর পূর্বে
যদি adjective হিসেবে A/All/Every
ব্যবহৃত হয় সে ক্ষেত্রে এর পরিবরতে Negative –এ
No+Subject
ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং verb এর Negative Form বসে।
i.e.
Affirmative: Every mother loves her child. Negative: No Mother hates her child.
Affirmative: Every person hates a lair. Negative: No person loves a lair.
Rules-7: আবার Affirmative sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত adverb ব্যবহৃত হয় সে ক্ষেত্রে
এর পরিবরতে Negative –এ negative adverb ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং verb এর Negative Form বসে।
Affirmative: They always remember us.
Negative: They never forget
us.
Affirmative:
Always speak the truth. Negative: Never
tell a lie.
Affirmative: I am always against
smoking.
Negative: I never patron
smoking.

Rules-8: চিরন্তন
সত্য প্রকাশ করে এ জাতীয় sentence কে Negative-
Interrogative sentence এ রূপান্তরিত
করে Negative করা হয়। (যদি object হিসেবে কোন noun থাকে।)
i.e.
Affirmative: Health is wealth. Negative: Isn’t health Wealth?
Affirmative: Knowledge is power. Negative: Isn’t knowledge power?
Affirmative: The sun rises in the east Negative: Doesn’t the sun rise in the
east?
Exercise: 1. Ignorant
parenting causes a lot of trouble in the world. 2.
We all want love and acceptance. 3. If your
parents consistently attended to your needs you will more than likely have a
“secure attachment?” 4. Lack of control
in our lives are just a few of the catalysts for stress. 5. Happiness is
a fleeting feeling. 6. Happiness is a fleeting
emotion. 7. We all experience intrusive thoughts. 8. Society conditions
us. 9. Toxic, nasty people are projecting their inner misery. 10. Money

and uncertainty is equal to certain, guaranteed elements of life. 14.
Congruency adds to contentment and peace of mind. 15. True fulfillment comes
from thinking beyond yourself.
Rules-8: চিরন্তন
সত্য, অভ্যাসগত কোন কাজের প্রকাশ করে এ জাতীয় sentence
কে Negative-sentence এ রূপান্তরিত এভাবেও করা হয়।
I.e.
Affirmative: Man
is mortal. Negative: Man is not immortal.
Affirmative: I
used to miss the train. Negative: I cannot catch
the train.
Affirmative: the
boy is lazy. Negative: the boy is not
active.
Affirmative: Dhaka
is a new city Negative: Dhaka is not an
old city.
Exercise: 1. The
man is wise. 2. He rises early. 3. The weather is favorable.
Rules-10: Too……… to যুক্ত Affirmative
sentence কে negative করতে হলে, Too
এর স্থানে so এর পর to এর স্থানে that
বসে একটি sub-ordinate clause তৈরি করে।
যাতে subject এর পর verb অনুসারে can বা cannot+ verb
বসে।
i.e.
Affirmative: The news is too good to be true.
Negative: The news is so good that it cannot be true
Affirmative: The tea
was too hot to drink. Negative: The tea was so hot that it
could not be drunk. Affirmative:
He is too
proud to beg. Negative: He
is so proud that he will not beg.
Exercise: 1. He is too poor to
send his children to school. 2.
The puzzle was too difficult for me to solve (it). 3. He is too strong for you to beat (him).
4. The house is too small to accommodate
everybody. 5. He is too
stupid to pass the test. 6. He
is too old to walk without support. 7. She was too distressed to answer my
questions 8. You are too young to
get married. 9. She is too
shy to perform on stage. 10. His
ideas are too complicated for me to comprehend (them).
11. The water is too salty to drink.
12. We arrived too late to have dinner.
Rules-11: as....as যুক্ত
positive sentence কে negative করতে হলে, প্রথম as এর স্থানে not + comparative degree form এবং পরের as
এর স্থানে than বসাতে হয়
আর প্রথম subject এর জায়গায়
শেষের subject আর শেষের subject
এর জায়গায় প্রথম subject বসবে ।
i.e.
Affirmative: You can eat as much as you want. Negative:
You want eat not more than you can.
Affirmative: She is as tall as her brother. Negative: her brother is not
less tall than She.
Affirmative: He is too proud to beg. Negative: He is so proud that he will not beg.
