point
out the persont from the following passages.
1.
A
place of active worship, Khan Jahan Ali's
Tomb is the only monument in Bagerhat that still retains its original cupolas (domed ceilings).
The cenotaph at the entrance is covered with tiles of various colors and inscribed with Quranic
verses, but it is usually
covered with a red cloth embroidered
with gold threads. The
single-domed Dargah Mosque is
enclosed within the same complex by
a massive wall, with short towers at
each corner and archways to the front and rear.
2.
The
mausoleum is a popular pilgrimage site and therefore has a
little more colour and flair than some of the other monuments in the region. During the annual Urus celebrations in early December, marking the anniversary of
the saint's death, the complex sees
thousands of visitors turning up to pay their tributes and partake in fete-like festivities.
3. Al Masjid Al Aqsa was the first qibla in Islam and
it has been a significant and important place of worship for the Prophets of
Islam. It was built 40 years after Al Masjid Al Haram in Makkah. There is a
difference of opinion amongst scholars as to who exactly built Al Masjid Al
Aqsa, with some scholars and historians asserting the view that Al Masjid Al
Aqsa was built by Prophet Adam (as), and others opining that it was built by
Prophet Ibrahim (as). It has also been rebuilt, renovated and expanded many
times in the history of Islam.
4. It was a well-known place of worship at the time of
Prophet Ibrahim (as) and for his son Prophet Ishaq (as) and grandson Prophet
Yaqub (as). When Prophet Yaqub’s son Prophet Yusuf (as) attained a position of
power in Egypt, he asked his family to join him and escape the poverty that
engulfed Palestine. Biblical sources claim this included his father Prophet
Yaqub (as) and Prophet Yusuf’s siblings and their children [Book of Genesis],
and that there were 33 in all (Allah aalam). At this point, as there was no one
left amongst Prophet Yaqub’s progeny to look after Al Masjid Al Aqsa (which at
the time had the name of “Beteyel” or “House of God”), care for this blessed
place was entrusted to the native population of the land (who were also
followers of Prophet Ibrahim (as)), the Palestinians.
5. The Israelites who voluntarily immigrated to Egypt
seeking a better material life remained there for approximately four centuries
and became slaves to the Egyptians. This slavery only ended when Prophet
Musa (as) freed them from Firaoun under the command of Allah. However, the
Israelites rejected the orders of Allah to return to Palestine and were thus
commanded to live in and wander through the desert of Sinai for 40 years.
6.
I feel honored to have been appointed to
serve on the Polio Transition Independent Monitoring Board (TIMB), created by
the Global Polio Eradication Initiative to monitor and guide the process of
polio transition planning in countries around the world. Advising the WHO at
Director-General level on progress on the polio transition process will not be
an easy job, but this is the first time a Bangladeshi has been appointed to
this position and I will do my best to bring our and other LMIC's perspectives
to the table.
7.
Dr Saha, along with
other members of the board, will advise the WHO at Director-General level on
progress of the polio transition process, addressing how countries around the
world will sustain the public health infrastructure -- particularly essential
immunization, wider communicable disease surveillance, and emergency response
once polio money, which has been used for years or decades to pay for non-polio
activity, is withdrawn.
8.
A total of three board
members have been appointed this year. The two other board members are: Prof
Sheila Leatherman, a Global Health Policy expert at the Gillings School of
Public Health of the University of North Carolina, USA; and Dr Lola Dare, a
community physician, epidemiologist, global health practitioner, development
consultant, social entrepreneur, and health advocate in Nigeria.
